To the best. Will always remember this beautiful human being reminding us that our life's dooms-day clock was still ticking, being the same age, but all would be well. He was an inspiration for life, always.
Dr. Prokopishyn was my doctor while going through breast cancer many years ago; he was kind and caring. Whenever our paths crossed, we would enjoy a good visit. I haven't seen seen him for a long time but will always remember him fondly.
So very sorry to hear of Dr. Prokopishyn's passing. 30 plus years ago he saved my life when I was inured in a car accident in December, the year the nurses were to go on strike. Such a wonderful doctor. I do remember him when doing rounds one evening, sitting down to watch the hockey game and fell asleep. The nurse looking for him quietly let him sleep. Needless to say, his catnap was short but he seemed refreshed and carried on. A wonderful gentleman and doctor. I will always remember him with heartfelt thanks.
My family and I are honored to have known such a wonderful physician & friend. A heart bigger than most and a deep friendly compassion to help anyone in need. You went above and beyond always. Loved our many conversations and visits throughout the years. We still remember the pizza, orange juice and cat visit like it was yesterday. You will be dearly missed by everyone you have touched. Heartfelt condolences to your family and friends.
I extend my sympathy to Dr. Prokopishyn's family and friends with your loss. It was a privilege and an honour to know him at St. Michael's General Hospital over the years. One day, he told us, at work, that they (he, his wife and possibly his mother-in-law, and I believe, 2 cats) headed out east on Highway 3 in the motor home to visit family in Saskatchewan. They maybe got as far as either Coaldale or Taber, and one of the cats created such a fuss, they turned around and went back home. We kidded him about ,"Who was the boss? The cat?" He admitted that, indeed, it was the cat who ruled. Good memories, I really enjoyed knowing him, his sense of humour, and greatly respected his work as Dr. Prokopishyn!
I always remember Dr Prokopishyn doing surgery on my nephew who at 4 yrs of age had a twisting of the bowel on itself which needed immediate surgery. My nephew is 42, alive and well thanks to the proper diagnosis and surgery.
Sincere condolences
Harold was a kind and thoughtful classmate and a good friend.
I first knew Dr. P as a supportive husband and son-in-law when providing care to his Mother-in-law in her last years. Later, he was the assisting surgeon when David had emergency surgery; and then his supervising Dr.as he underwent chemotherapy. He was the stereotypical old-fashioned Dr. - white shirt and tie, white lab coat, very professional. When we encountered him out shopping, after the death of his wife, I approached him to express sympathy. He extolled her virtues, and credited her with managing the minute details of his life, so that he could concentrate on his career. We will remember him fondly!
Dr. Pokopisyhyn, will be remembered for his love of his profession. I have known him for many years, Sorry to hear of his passing.
Very sorry to hear about Dr. P's passing. He took such great care of my mother throughout all of her many cancer surgeries and was always there for our family. I had the pleasure of having him for my doctor for many procedures as well. He was well thought of and loved in our community. He was highly regarded and will be missed.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We truly enjoyed knowing Harold (Dr. P.) and are saddened by his passing.
I work at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital and have known Dr. Prokopishyn for many years, and I was so grateful for the kindness he showed my Mother. She had breast cancer so she had to have one breast removed, then years later she wished to have the other breast removed, and other Doctors refused to do it, so she discussed this with Dr. Prokopishyn and he agreed to do this for her. She was so happy afterwards and she was so grateful as I was. Every time I would see him in the hospital he would always return my smile, he had a beautiful , kind, warm personality. He was a wonderful Doctor. I send you Prayers of Peace for your loss of such a dear man. God Rest His Soul.
