MARIA ELIZABETH RATKAI, beloved partner of Frank Malesan, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the age of 68 years.
She is the loving mother of Michelle Ratkai and Tony Ratkai, both of Lethbridge. She is also survived by her brother Ernie (Cathy) Sury, nieces Rosemary Sury, Charlene (Paolo), Luciano, Vittoria, Adriano and Eliana Saccon.
She was predeceased by her daughter Christine, mother Maria and father Louis.
Maria Elizabeth Ratkai was a dedicated mother, partner, friend and nurse. She was diagnosed with Lupus more than 25 years ago and fought a long, courageous battle with the love and support of her nursing colleagues and family. As the disease progressed, she faced the increasing challenges head-on with Frank Malesan by her side.
Maria took great pride in her work and was well-respected in the medical community where she garnered lifelong friends. She also valued her Hungarian heritage, instilling the values and culture in her children while staying actively connected to the community.
The family would like to thank all of those that took the time to visit and support her during this long and difficult battle.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.
