Rick was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Thelma Whitton, his in-laws, Frank and Margrette Sera and his lifelong fur buddy Messy Macy.
Rick worked at Kawneer as a Fabricator for 35 years, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed and where he made many lifelong friends. Upon retiring from Kawneer, he worked alongside of his best friend Rick “The Brick” Guthrie (Brenda) helping build fences as well as many other projects.
He was an avid golfer with his good friends, Marv Higa, Keith Druhan and many of the guys he worked with from Kawneer. He loved to camp at the CWR Boat Club and enjoyed the friendships he developed throughout the years at the Boat Club, especially Norm and Keith Druhan and their wives.
Rick was a down to earth, well-loved man who will be sadly missed by many, but mostly by his loving wife Darlene – I’ll see you on the other side.
A special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses on 4C at the Chinook Regional Hospital as well as Home Care staff that took care of Rick in his time of need.
A private Family Gathering will be held at a later date.

Rick was a free spirit with an energy that didn't quit. He was kind, uplifting and had a sense of humor that will never be forgotten. I'm so grateful to have known this outstanding human. Rest in peace my friend. You will always be one of the great ones to me.
I am so sad to hear of Rick's passing. He was one of a kind, and remembering his humour and one liners makes me smile. My condolences to his family.
I'm sorry for your loss - my thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Being the youngest of the Whitton siblings, I learned from each and ever one of you and especially Rick. When we were young growing up on the farm, Rick always had a sense of direction for me and always with a sense of humour. His kindness to me was one of his many fabulous traits. As we grew up and moved on, we lived far apart, however the foundation that was built when we were together, has carried us all through many trials and tribulations. Rick provided much laughter, resilience and common sense to all that we did. It’s so heartwarming to hear of all the strong bonds and friendships he established over his lifetime. Darlene and your entire family, thank you for being with Rick and giving him such a wonderful family life, full of love, fun and laughter. I will always cherish his memories in my heart.
Rick was the best brother. He helped me through the most difficult time in my life. I will miss him immensely.
Being your neighbour at the Lake was such fun from the Red Thong to running with a "torch" around the Lake - there was no other to compare. Memories to last a life time. To Dar and family - our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I will miss the visits we had on the bench on 28th Street where I was playing my guitar. You and Macy were a frequent and welcome interruption.
Darlene and family, deepest condolences sounds almost feeble, but the sentiment is there. Thank you for sharing your best friend with the rest of us. He will be remembered with large smiles, the great stories will be told and retold with laughter and good tears. He was the very best of us, his absence an unfillable hole. We can take comfort in knowing - you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. Rick did it right. May his memory be a blessing. I will always remember Ricks infectious smile and laugh. He always played a slice in his golf game, and always cheered for the Hamilton Tiger Cats. So when I see someone slice a golf ball, and see the Tiger-cats play. I will remember Rick with fond memories. My deepest condolences Darlene.
It was a pleasure to work with Rick, such a great man and had an incredible work ethic. Everyday was happy and smiling. RIP Rick it was a pleasure knowing you and your the guy that kept people happy and get together...
“I am a better person by knowing you, loving you, and meeting you. May you be as blessed in the next life as I was in this one by knowing you, my friend.”
So sad to hear of Rick's passing. He was truly one of the "good ones", always enjoyed seeing him at work. He will be missed. Deepest Condolences to Darlene and Families...
