Evelyn was born on June 20, 1928, at Calgary General Hospital to Mary and Alexander Poffenroth.  She lived on a farm near Katheryn, AB, and graduated from the Katheryn School. Along with her sister Pat, she attended the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington, graduating in 1953. She and Pat worked at the Calgary General Hospital as Registered Nurses until Evelyn met her husband, John.  They married on October 29, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Calgary, this being her family's home church where she received confirmation as a young girl.  They lived with John's brother and his wife, Joseph and Rosemarie Schoen, in New Dayton, AB, while their home in Warner was being built. John and Evelyn farmed near Warner and Evelyn worked at the Warner Memorial Library for 25 years. Evelyn loved the outdoors and she enjoyed hiking and fishing with her family at Waterton Park and Glacier National Park in Montana.

She was a caring and loving wife for over 64 years and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing was more important to her than family.

A private Funeral Service will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home for family and close friends.
