Shirley was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, the daughter of Lorne and Jesse Jackson. Shirley and Howard farmed for many years while raising five children in the Warner area. Her dedication to family and community was reflected by her involvement in family activity and community life in the Warner and surrounding area until her move to Lethbridge in the early 1980’s.

She is remembered for her involvement at the Warner Evangelical United Brethren Church as well as demonstrating more than just a casual interest in curling. Shirley also helped form and participated in the Warner Figure Skating Club in the early years of its organization, and will be remembered for the many hours spent on the golf course. Much of Shirley’s time while living in Lethbridge involved making many memories volunteering with Sharon and Pat at the Lethbridge Seniors Centre.

Shirley is survived by her sister Joy (Chris); sister-in-law, Rosalie; children: Greg (Lyla) and Brenda; son-in-law, Jay; grandchildren: Jared (Jaimi), Jacqueline (Ryan), and Christian; as well as her great-grandchildren: Gracie, Jude, Ethan, Lucas and Brody along with many nieces and nephews living in and outside the southern Alberta region. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen; son, Kent; grandson, Jaye; daughter, Janine; husband, Howard and her niece, Heidi.

Mom . . . you are missed and you will always be remembered for helping lead our family through the good times and through life’s many challenges. From your family that loves you!

Remembering this fine lady. Full of laughter and fun. Loved to dance. Was a joy to work with her in the Day program at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization. I miss her quit wit and strong attitude and perseverance. Always enjoyed visiting with her the last few years and she was always interested in what was new in my life. She was one of a kind. I will always think of Shirley and her lost purse in the hurricane Katrina.. My condolences to her family that she spoke so much about. I miss her.

Shirley will be dearly missed. Her wit, warmth, and stories of New Orleans will always be remembered with fondness.
