Slywka, Thomas John

THOMAS JOHN SLYWKA, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Alida Slywka of almost 54 years of marriage, passed away at the St. Therese Villa, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at the age of 89 years, two weeks short of his 90th birthday.

Besides being a devoted husband, he is also a beloved dad, grandpa, pa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend.

He is the loving dad of Mary Lou (Terry) Miechkota, Tom (Diane) Slywka, John (Trish) Slywka and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was born in McGee, Saskatchewan, on November 28, 1926. He was the son of Michael and Eudokia (Doris) Slywka. He served in the Canadian Army in Canada from June 14, 1944 to Oct. 4, 1945. In his careers, he worked for McGavin's Bakery, and later sold farm machinery. In his early years, Dad enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was a devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. He was known for his great sense of humor and he shared his kindness with all who met him.

He will be deeply missed and always loved and remembered by all who knew him.

At Tom's request there will be no formal funeral service.
