Dear Ferguson, Dominic and families, My deepest condolences on the loss of your father, grandfather and family members. Brian was a special friend and the many memories that span half a century will be with me always. My late husband, Marty, and I enjoyed lots of time with your parents which always included poetry, music, food and plenty of laughs. Great memories. May you each hold your personal memories close. Fondly, Mary

In the short time that I knew Brian I had an instant respect and fondness for him. He had the most amazing stories to tell always with a bit of british humour added to them. He will be deeply missed.

As a member of the Music Faculty and founding conductor of the University of Lethbridge Singers it it is with great sadness and appreciation that I write. Brian and Jill were frequent supporters of the University Singers as well as avid concert goers for our faculty events. I was asked by Dr. J P Christopher Jackson to be the vocal soloist for a new work he was writing, Brompton's, text written by Bryan. It was such a learning experience for me to work on this piece with both the creator of the text and the composer as well. The beauty of the text and Dr. Jackson's setting made for a wonderful evening of music making at the premier of the work. It was a highlight of my years at the U of L. Our world has lost a wonderful man, scholar and friend. Bryan will be missed a great deal.

Dominic and Fergus: your father was an amazing person! I have never met anyone who loved their wife as much as your father loved your mother. I only met your father later in his life and was so privileged to have many conversations about his accomplishments: as a teacher, father and husband. He was so humble...he never saw any of his accomplishments come close to what your mother did: he worshipped her love as a parent and wife more then any accomplishment he achieved. Blessed we have all been, especially myself, to have known Brian.

We would like Fergus and Dominic and their families to know that we send our condolences to them. We always appreciated and loved having the Tyson family as friends and neighbours in the early days of our coming to Lethbridge. Brian and Jill were both kind and endearing people. Brian was an intelligent, principled, and talented man. We send our deepest sympathy.

Brian will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my most inspiring mentors. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Tyson. He was the Chair of the English department during the time that I was in undergraduate and later when I lectured there for several years. I recall often his wonderful lectures on Samuel Beckett when I took a drama course from him. He was thoughtful, intelligent and kind. His wonderful stories about cats were often the hit of informal suppers. I shall miss him.

Thinking today of Brian's family and friends who loved him so much. For my part, Brian and Jill created eagle's wings that have protected and inspired me for years. Brian's humour, profound knowledge and neverending kindness astound me. I see him now at peace and I hope that in some way he is with his beloved Jill. May the light of God shine on you forever my courageous friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was Brian's pharmacist and had a deep respect for him. After Jill passed away I offered him my meager condolences. I will never forget his response. He said the sweetest eulogy I have ever heard for his beloved wife. He expressed that they had lived a full and wonderful life together and that he was grateful for the time they had together. His words touched my heart, and so did his example.

I'm so sorry to hear of Brian's passing; he was a wonderful man and colleague in the Department of English at U of L. He encouraged me in publishing, and I always enjoyed meeting him at plays at the university. He will be sorely missed.
