ELISABETH "BETTY" MARIA VAN GAAL, beloved wife of Gerrit van Gaal, passed away at Legacy Lodge, on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the age of 78 years.
ELISABETH "BETTY" MARIA VAN GAAL, beloved wife of Gerrit van Gaal, passed away at Legacy Lodge, on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the age of 78 years.
She is the loving mother of four daughters: Susan (Barry), Linda, Janice and Wendy (Jason); and six grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Jaylene, Nancy, Joshua, and Jaxon. Betty is also survived by her sister Joanne Berlinghof, many brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Betty deGroot, her first husband John Visser, and her siblings Peter, Nellie, Annie, and Hank.
Betty was born in the Netherlands, coming to Canada in 1953 as a teenager. She married Gerrit in 1967.
Her passion was to share her time and skills, helping family, friends and neighbors whenever there was a need. She was an avid crafter: sewing, needlecrafts, knitting, crocheting, She also loved to go camping, swimming, and on new adventures.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.
