CHRISTIAAN "CHRIS" VANDER WAL passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at the age of 68 years after a short battle with cancer.
CHRISTIAAN "CHRIS" VANDER WAL passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at the age of 68 years after a short battle with cancer.
Chris is survived by his daughter Sharon (Dave) Nieuwenhuis of Coaldale, sons Christopher (Kim) of Airdrieand Keith (Darlene) of Calgary. Chris also had 9 grandchildren - Joshua, Nathaniel, Sean, Sara, James, Anna, Matthew, Christianne and Bethelyn - and had numerous nieces and nephews.
Chris was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years Bess, his parents Gerard and Ybeltje Vander Wal. Also, Chris was predeceased by his brothers Bert Vander Wal, John Vander Wal, Henry Vander Wal, and sister Lena Koiter.
Chris is survived by his sisters Minnie (Jack) of St. Catharines, ON, Elly (Pete) of Lethbridge, and sister-in-law Akkie of Lethbridge.
Chris spent many years in the mechanic'sfield. At 22, he owned and managed his own garage in Stevensville, ON before moving to Alberta. Chris was working most recently for Auto Value until retiring in 2016. He could not do enough for his wife, children, andgrandchildren. He had a great love for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ which he passed on to his family.
Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 - Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Sunday, June 17th, 2018 from 8:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Service details: A funeral procession will leave TRINITY UNITED REFORMEDCHURCH, 1100 - 40th Ave. N., Lethbridge, on Monday, June 18th, at 10:20 A.M., and will proceed to the Royal View Cemetery for a 10:30 A.M. graveside service. A reception will then be held at the church from 11:00 A.M. to 12:40 A.M. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 1:00 P.M. Visitation, graveside, reception, andService are all open to family and friends.

To Chris, Sharon & Keith and families - I was so surprised to see your father's obituary in the paper today. what a shock! I am so sorry for your loss, especially so soon after your mother. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you. I will try to get to the service on Monday but already have 2 funerals on Monday afternoon that I will be going to.
