Born in Beaumont, Alberta, on July 21, 1932, to Andre and Lucie Royer, Vic was the second youngest of nine siblings. In 1970, he married his soulmate, Beth, and they remained inseparable until her passing in December of 2022.
Vic leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom, survived by his daughter Sandra (Erle) Moshurchak of Calgary, his son Andre (Jeff Carlson) of Lethbridge, his cherished grandchildren Emma and Sam, and his brother Aurell (LaVerne) Royer of Edmonton.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Beth, brothers, Dan and Robert, and sisters, Denise, Lorraine, Evelyn, Estelle, and Vivienne.
His wisdom and kindness were the pillars of our family, guiding us with quiet strength and dignity through both joyous and challenging times.
An avid sportsman, Vic found joy on the golf course and hockey rink. His precise drives and spirited hustle on the ice were a testament to his passion for sports. Off the field, he relished life’s simple pleasures—a good rye and coke, a hot coffee and chocolate donut, and most of all, doting on his grandchildren. As a successful businessman, Vic owned and operated various hotels and restaurants, leaving a lasting impression on the Lethbridge community with establishments like the Park Plaza, the York Hotel, and Vegas Skate Palace.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Therese Villa for treating ‘Papa’ like family, and to the emergency room team at CRH for their dedicated care.
As we bid farewell to Vic, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each of us and that he and Mom are together again.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd West, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Father William Monis celebrating. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed and available to view on Vic’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
Vic will be laid to rest at a private ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery.
