Vita Baldwin

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Richard Baldwin, Jodi (Mark) Meerkerk and Jeff (Kendall) Baldwin; as well as her grandchildren: Carli and Ethan Meerkerk and Berkley and Hadley Baldwin. She is also survived by her brothers, Torben, Jan (Annette), Ole (Bev), and David (Jennifer); sister-in-law Helen; brother-in-law Alvin (Piera) Baldwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell; her parents, Axel and Kirstine Johansen; her sister, Hanna and her brother, Andy.

Vita was born in Marslev, Fyn, Denmark, on June 14, 1948, and in July 1957, her family made a new home in Canada, settling in Coaldale. Raised on a farm, Vita grew up with the values of hard work and community that defined her life. She spent years with the Alberta Liquor Control Board and then joined Sears Canada, where she led various departments over 18 years, becoming a familiar, friendly face to many. After Sears closed, she worked briefly at Best Western before retiring. Vita loved sewing, catching up over coffee at Tim Hortons, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her laugh and warmth will be remembered by those she held close.

A Celebration of Vita’s life will be held at the COALHURST COMMUNITY HALL, 527 – 50 Avenue, Coalhurst, AB, on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.

A private Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.
