WALTER GEORGE BECKMAN passed away on Monday, November 15, 2009 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years.
He was born November 29, 1929 in Melville, Sask. to Phillip and Elizabeth Beckman.
He married Irene Bird and they raised three sons; Roy, Jim (Chris), and Rob. He had four grandchildren Michael, Cathy, Leslie and A.J.
The family ran Beckman’s Groceteria in Taber from the early 1960’s. After moving to Lethbridge in the 1970’s, Wally worked in retail sales until his retirement.
He enjoyed many warm times in Hawaii and also enjoyed spending time with his sister Doreen Allen. Hockey was always a passion ever since he played for the Melville Millionaires in his youth. He instilled a strong work ethic in all who knew him and will be remembered for always throwing an extra log on the fire.
A Memorial Service will be held at the LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, 2406 - 11 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Kevin Powell officiating.

To Walter's sons, Just ran across your Dad's obituary today - August 24/18. My husband and I and our three children were on a Carnival Cruise with him in 1994. He sat at our dinner table every night and our children loved him and we all called him Grandpa. We took a couple shore tours with him and, all in all, enjoyed his company very much.
