Born on May 13, 1940, in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, Dee was known for his kind heart, gentle presence, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and at ease — qualities that defined the many relationships he built throughout his life.
For 62 beautiful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Kay Hershmiller, his greatest companion and partner in every adventure. Together they built a loving family and a lifetime of memories. Dee was a devoted father to Cindy (Steve), Leanne (Murray), and Trevor (Audrey), and a proud grandfather to Cole, Zane, Brett (Kaitlin), and Dalton (Laticia) — each one a source of endless joy and pride.
Those who knew Dee will remember his quick wit and the unmistakable laugh that could light up a room. His humor, warmth, and gentle teasing created moments of joy that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dee was predeceased by his brothers Brian and Ralph, and his sisters Joan and Alma, and is lovingly survived by his sisters Shirley (Bill) and Mary Ann (Dennis). He is also remembered and cherished by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.
A Celebration of Dee’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. The Celebration will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Dee’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In memory of Dee, donations may be made to Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation – Bringing Hearts Home Cardiac Campaign (crhfoundation.ca/cardiaccare), in appreciation of the care and compassion shown to him during his final days.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Chinook Regional Hospital, especially those on floor 4B, for their kindness, care, and support.
