It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our mother, ELBERTA MAUD WILSON (née Christensen) of Lethbridge, AB. Mom passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, January 25th 2023 at the age of 68 years.

She is survived by her greatest joys: son Casey (Amanda) Wilson and daughters Danielle (Dave) Gudmundson, Kim (Travis) Cadman, as well as her grandchildren, which were the light of her life; Tyrell, Reece, Ashton, Carson, Brooklyn, Hayli, Tavin, Talin, Maddison, Ashley, and Adam, and great-grandson Dax. She is also survived by her sisters, Shainne (Monte) Harker and Colette (Dan) Taylor and brother Forrest (Barbara) Christensen and many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Ryan Wilson.

Mom grew up on a small farm just outside of Magrath, AB. She was a member of the Del Bonita 4H club for many years. She worked at the Magrath Trading Company at the lunch counter, making hot delicious meals every day. This started her love of cooking! Later, Mom moved away to further her education at the University of Bozeman, in Montana, then transferred to the University of Alberta, to attain her Bachelor of Education in 1976, fulfilling her dream of becoming a Home Economics teacher.

Mom loved being Mrs. Wilson at Wilson Middle School, where she spent her entire career until retirement. Mom took great pride in sewing all the latest fashions for her kids and grandkids. She loved to cook, always making sure everyone was well-fed, including the numerous Lethbridge Hurricane Hockey players she billeted. Mom thoroughly enjoyed Tuesdays and Thursdays, going to the Bridges program, where she cooked and played cards with her boys.

Mom will be dearly missed by all.

A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

Deepest sympathy on your mom's passing. I have fond memories of Elberta from Magrath - as my friend Shainne's smart, kind & fun sister & from Lutheran church activities. Elberta was a very special lady - may your treasured memories keep you warm during this difficult time. Sincerely Winona

I was saddened to read of your mom's passing. I knew your mom as Mrs. Wilson as she taught me as well as countless others, how to cook and bake throughout Junior High. Your mom was a lovely woman, a great teacher and someone that I have very fond memories of. I have one memory that remains in my mind to this date. My teammates and I were selling chocolates for a fundraising initiative and we decided to ask Mrs. Wilson to purchase some. We approached her with some trepidation as we knew her high standards of healthy eating and nutritional balance. Would she buy our chocolate? To our delight and amazement she bought two bars or maybe more. The absolute glee on her face as she jokingly stashed these chocolates in her purse and made a dash for her car so no one else could take these from her still remains in my mind. At that moment, I saw that your mom had a wonderful sense of humour and play. My sympathies to your family - I hope that your memories of her will bring happiness to hearts in this time of sorrow.
