Zeeb, Sandy "Sammy"

SANDY "SAMMY" ZEEB (née Halmrast), passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the age of 46 years.

Sammy Halmrast "aka" Sandy Zeeb passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the age of 46, after a courageous four-year fight with cancer.

Sammy was born in Milk River on May 23, 1975 to Dale Halmrast and Jolene Harty (Fletcher-Halmrast). Rebellious yet dedicated, she worked through the majority of her grade school education in Warner, spending a few years in Lethbridge, before returning to Milk River and graduating high school in 1992. She sparked an interest in the health care field working at the hospital in Milk River during her final years of school. Upon graduation from high school Sammy moved to Calgary where she pursued an education in nursing. She worked at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Center for a number of years, as well as the Bethany Center and a fertility clinic.

During her time in Calgary, she met and married the father of her children, David Zeeb, in 2004. Starting a family with the birth of their first daughter Alexis in 2005, Sammy and Dave moved to Strathmore for a brief period before returning close to her home and settling in Coalhurst in 2007, where they completed their family with the birth of their second daughter Mikayla. Sammy continued her nursing career at the Green Acres Piyami Lodge in Picture Butte where she touched the hearts of the residents in her care.

Sammy was a woman of many talents. She jumped at any opportunity to learn something new—most recently dedicating her time to the practice of Reiki and violin. In her final years, some of her biggest adventures were alongside her loving partner Barry, who took every opportunity he could to show Sammy that there was life beyond her battle with cancer. For him we are forever grateful. She was a loving and supportive mother, sister, friend and daughter and spent many days returning to her roots to spend time with her dad on the farm. She remained close with her mom, who was by her side through her courageous battle. Her two girls were always number one in her life and we know she will be watching over them, protecting them, so proud of the resilient young ladies they are to become.

Sammy is predeceased by her brother Travis Halmrast, grandparents Lawrence and Jessie Halmrast, Andy and Ethel Fletcher, and uncle Tenny Fletcher.

She is survived by her two incredibly strong daughters Alexis and Mikayla Zeeb, father Dale Halmrast, mother Jolene Harty (William), sister Ashtin Halmrast (Arianit), partner Barry Peck, and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, and cousins.

We will never forget the bright light that Sammy brought to her many friends and family. She was passionate and fiery, willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Sammy will be forever in our hearts, our minds, our dreams, and our prayers with so much love.
